For many cultures across East Asia, family and friends come together for the mid-autumn Full Moon with festivities, delicious food, and good company. The Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies, U-M Astronomy, the Nam Center for Korean Studies, and the Center Japanese Studies invite you to the Judy & Stanley Frankel Detroit Observatory for a celebration of the Mid-Autumn Moon. The evening will open with a traditional Korean Daegum performance and includes presentations from U-M Astronomy on Chinese lunar astronomy and exploration, a presentation on Japanese lunar celebrations, tours of the observatory, and telescope viewing of the Moon! Families are welcome!

Registration includes the presentations, performances, tours, and Fitz telescope observing. Walk-ins are welcome to join us for tours and patio telescope Moon observations. Extra tour spots for walk-ins are first come, first serve.

Telescope observing of the Moon will begin outside on the observatory patio around 9:30pm until 10:30pm.

Note: Registration is currently FULL. Reserve tickets available, please add your name to the waitlist.
