For over 14 years, Libya has endured instability due to ongoing wars and conflicts, with migrants and asylum seekers being the most vulnerable and severely impacted. The policies of both the European Union and the Libyan government have exacerbated their plight. Many migrants perish in the desert or languish in Libyan prisons, while those attempting to leave Libya often face the threat of death at sea. Addressing these issues requires confronting the root causes and ending the exploitation and harsh policies imposed by the European Union and transit countries.

Born in Benghazi, Libya, Tarek is an activist who has dedicated his career to supporting immigrants and asylum seekers in Libya. He founded a non-profit organization that operated for over thirteen years, focusing on the rights and welfare of immigrants, workers, and asylum seekers. With extensive local and international training in advocacy and lobbying, he now serves as an immigration consultant for international organizations and the Ministry of Interior. Additionally, he contributes as a journalist, writing for both Arab and international newspapers on immigration-related issues.
