Mikhail Belkin is a professor at the Halicioglu Data Science Institute at the University of California San Diego. His research interests lie in computation, statistics, and optimization in Machine Learning, particularly for high-dimensional data. Recently, much of his research has been focused on the fundamental understanding of modern ML and deep learning, particularly on interpolation, overparemeterization, and feature learning.
