EXCEL Talk: Building and Sustaining a Musical Freelance Career

Lindsay Kesselman and Christopher Cerrone have been collaborating on creating music for over a decade. Their partnership began with a chance encounter in Los Angeles in 2013, when Lindsay boldly told Chris, "Everyone is singing your music wrong." Intrigued, Chris wanted to explore this ideafurther. Lindsay's 2014 performance of Chris's songs "I will learn to love a person" confirmed his belief that a great collaborator could teach him something profound about his own music. Since then, they have worked together on two GRAMMY-nominated albums and numerous other projects.Their enduring relationship, characterized by mutual respect and honesty, serves as a model for creating new music. It demonstrates how a composer-performer partnership can sustain a life in music.
