If you are a fan of Capoeira or are curious to learn more about this Afro-Brazilian art that combines elements of acrobatics, music, martial arts, dance and rituals in an elegant and magnetic way, come participate with our Afro-Brazilian Cultural Studies course (LACS 455) in this workshop sponsored by the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Center. The workshop will include a presentation, performance and chance to learn the movements and rhythms of Capoeira.
About the instructor:
Fábio Cosmo da Cunha, known in Capoeira as “Mestre Lobinho” began training in 1998 in São Paulo, Brazil. He has been teaching in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti area of Michigan for eight years. Lobinho grew up in Brazil, where he first participated in a non-profit Capoeira program for underprivileged kids. By sixteen, he was teaching classes to adults and soon after began instructing full-time in local preschools. He is well known across the globe.
