Oxford Study Abroad (undergraduates) Info Session
The University of Oxford, the oldest university in the English-speaking world, is one of the premier universities worldwide. Located in the medieval city center of Oxford, England (about an hour and half northwest of London), academic teaching has taken place in this historic institution since as early as the 11th century. Comprised of 44 colleges and halls, as well as one of the oldest and largest library systems in Europe, Oxford is a world-renowned hub for intellectual pursuits and research.
U-M’s Center for Global and Intercultural Study (CGIS) offers a study abroad program for undergraduate students within Oxford's Hertford College for either a single semester or a full academic year of study. Hertford College offers a friendly, progressive academic community located at the heart of Oxford directly across from the famous Bodleian library. Visiting students live and learn alongside Hertford’s diverse group of full-time degree-seeking students who hail from many parts of the UK as well as multiple countries across the globe.
This program is perfect for students interested in a comprehensive inquiry into an academic topic of interest within the fields of the humanities, social and political sciences, human sciences, or mathematics. Students will participate in extensive analysis of a subject utilizing the Oxford tutorial system, which are one-on-one meetings where students engage in lively discussions with a faculty member of relevant expertise based upon rigorous independent study.
