Professor Viscusi will present his recently published epic poem. The poet/playwright Mac Wellman has written, “In the half-mad tradition of the Italian Futurists and the brilliant scribblers of the Oulipo,
Viscusi has constructed a wonderful machine for generating sonnets, an effort that reproduces the equally demented project of Ellis Island Itself.”

Prof. Viscusi is professor of English and executive officer of the Wolfe Institute for the Humanities at Brooklyn College.

Event sponsored by: Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, Understanding Race Theme Semester, Institute for the Humanities, International Institute Fund, Department of American Culture, Department of Comparative Literature, Rackham Dean’s Strategic Fund, and the US Literatures and Cultures Consortium.
