UMS Family Activity: Kolam Drawing Workshop with Ragamala Dance

Join Minneapolis-based Ragamala Dance in a hands- on artmaking workshop in conjunction with the UMS presentation of their performance Sacred Earth (April 24, Power Center). Ragamala incorporates kolam drawings into their performance, and will teach the technique during this workshop. Kolam is a form of painting practiced throughout south India that uses rice powder, chalk, or colored powders. A Kolam is a geometrical line drawing composed of curved loops drawn around a grid pattern of dots. This program is made possible in collaboration with the UM Museum of Art.
