In his inaugural lecture, Physics Professor Mark Newman will discuss networks, from the Internet to the power grid to networks of friendship. New data has created a new science of networks, drawing on ideas from physics, math, computer science, biology and other fields to shed light on systems ranging from bacteria to the whole of human society. A public reception will follow the lecture.
