Black History Month Opening Ceremony
Black History Month 2025

Please join us to kick off our month-long celebration of Black history and heritage with a powerful, inspiring, and thought-provoking discussion featuring Michigan's very own Dr. Charles H.F. Davis III, assistant professor in the Marsal Family School of Education, and Rev. Nelson J. Pierce Jr., a pastor and community organizer from Cincinnati, Ohio.
The BHM Opening Ceremony is led by the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs (MESA), and is co-sponsored by the Trotter Multicultural Center, Ford School of Public Policy, Support for Incoming Black Students (SIBS) and the Black Student Union (BSU). This year's theme, It Starts with Us: Embracing our Collective Power, is a potent reminder of the legacy of remarkable Black achievements and steadfast activism as we pursue a better future. It reflects a commitment to strengthening our community bonds, reshaping narratives, and amplifying Black voices.
