SMBC Meet and Greet: Portfolio Mgmt, Execution Mgmt, Leveraged and Lenders Finance

Our SMBC Meet and Greet Series is a unique opportunity to meet and interact with the various business areas that hire interns and analysts. This session will feature overviews of four business groups, followed by a Q&A session.Note: You are welcome to attend as many of the Meet and Greet sessions as you like. You can find each session’s participating business groups on our events central page here. The four business groups attending are:Portfolio Management Group (PMG)The Portfolio Management Group supports the bank’s leveraged loan business. The Group is primarily responsible for monitoring the credit quality for portfolio companies owned by Private Equity firms and also manages any amendment and underwriting activities to support these businesses during the tenor of the bank’s relationship.Leveraged FinanceSMBC’s Leveraged Finance Group is a well-established and rapidly growing platform in the US which will offer firsthand experience into the private equity space. The group’s primary mission is to originate, structure, and execute leveraged financing solutions to support financial sponsor activity. Team members work to provide cash flow and asset-based financing solutions to support leveraged buyouts (LBO) and other merger & acquisition (M&A) transactions recapitalizations, refinancing, add-on acquisitions, and other financing events for private equity backed companies. Execution Management Group (North America Project Finance Group)The Execution Management, referred to externally as North America Project Finance Group, provides advisory, underwriting, structuring, and capital markets offerings to large corporations and financial sponsors.The group covers the growing infrastructure industry, the power industry, and new energies and natural resources sectors, with a growing focus on energy transition and ESG-themed projects.Lenders FinanceGroupThe Lender Finance Group provides financing to financial institutions primarily engaged in middle-market leveraged lending. LFG activities support both permanent financing for loan asset manager portfolios as well as warehouse financing for CLOs which are arranged by Nikko.
