In 1968, our country was rocked by tragedy and sweeping change. It was the year when Dr. Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy were assassinated and protests escalated into fiery demonstrations in Chicago. But even as tensions boiled over, something remarkable was happening in ballparks across the nation, especially in St. Louis and Detroit. In his book, Tim Wendel takes us on a wild ride through a time when sports, especially the national pastime, stepped to the forefront.
