Linda L Newman Community Art Project
Diversity Peer Educators

Residents are invited to participate in the annual Linda L. Newman Community Art Project. For this year’s Linda L. Newman Program, we will explore Ambatana - The Afro American Multicultural Lounge and reflect upon the inspiration and themes behind the artwork found throughout the space and have the chance to design a canvas tote bag inspired by the pieces! Get in touch with your inner artist and share your story through art.
The Linda L. Newman Community Art Project is an annual program through the Michigan Housing Diversity and Inclusion Department, in which residents reflect upon and create artistic expressions inspired by a common theme. This project, and its relationship to the Connector, reflects the vision of Linda L. Newman (Director of University Housing, 2009-2015) to create multicultural spaces on campus where community members can engage with the diverse ideas, perspectives, and stories of individuals and communities through participation in a variety of programs and activities. The Linda L. Newman Project was named in honor of her efforts.
