U-M Detroit Center to Present Emerging Leader Award to Dominique Morisseau

The University of Michigan Detroit Center is proud to announce the bestowment of the 2013 Emerging Leader Award to playwright and Detroit native, Dominique Morisseau. Open to the public, the award ceremony will take place on Friday, July 12, 2013 beginning at 6 p.m. Complimentary admission, parking and light refreshments will be available for all attendees.
The 2013 Emerging Leader Award is granted to a native Detroiter and graduate of the University of Michigan who has made notable achievements in their field and has the potential of making significant national and/or global contributions of merit. The ceremony, hosted by Stephen Henderson, Editorial Page Editor of the Detroit Free Press, will feature a staged reading of an excerpt of Ms. Morisseau’s play Detroit ’67. Gary Anderson, Artistic Director of Plowshares Theatre, directs the performance including four of Detroit’s finest professional actors. A plaque honoring Ms. Morisseau will be unveiled and later placed in the U-M Detroiter Hall of Fame for a period of one year.
