Hoots & Hellmouth w/sg Holy Ghost Tent Revival
Philadelphia's Hoots and Hellmouth are the duo of singer-songwriters Sean Hoots and Andrew Gray (he's Hellmouth), augmented by other musicians as needed. They call their sound "new music for old souls," and it has elements of alt-country, classic folk, punk, and jam-band freedom. This band blends the tangled roots of American music in a fierce and fiery alchemy, with soulful three-part harmonies mixed with stringed things and foot stomps, building a synergy that bursts from the stage. It’s city and country. It’s rock and soul. It's bleeding, sweating, crying, rejoicing”¦It’s alive! The Kalamazoo Gazette came pretty close to the Hoots and Hellmouth experience with the description of the duo "singing from the pits of themselves and throwing themselves into it all." Hoots and Hellmouth have been local favorites ever since their roof-raising appearances at the 2010 Ann Arbor Folk Festival. They're joined tonight by special guests Holy Ghost Tent Revival–this North Carolina band will fill you with the spirit of musical passion and energy. Chris Hillman from The Flying Burrito Brothers exclaimed, “Man! You guys have really got something,” as he watched from offstage at the Loveless Café in Nashville.
