The Premodern Colloquium presents Andrew Devereux (Department of History, University of California-San Diego). The discussion will focus on Andrew's paper "Tropical Bodies: Disease, Humoral Theory, and the Emergence of Racialized Corporality in the Iberian Atlantic (15th-16th centuries)", which explores Iberian ideas about sub-saharan Africa ranging from the fourteenth through the seventeenth centuries.
