2025 Charles F. Fraker Graduate Conference: Keynote Speaker Professor Anna Kornbluh, University of Illinois Chicago
The biannual Charles F. Fraker Conference is organized by doctoral students in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor in honor of Professor Emeritus of Spanish Charles F. Fraker. Originally a venue for graduate students of Hispanic Studies to meet and discuss the subjects of their research, the conference has grown to include the work of students of many other fields and disciplines. In previous years, the Charles F. Fraker Conference has featured as its keynote speakers intellectuals such as Jacques Lezra, Alberto Moreiras, Jacques Rancière, Bill Brown, Michael Taussig, WJT Mitchell, and Robert T. Tally Jr. This year, we are excited to welcome Professor Eduardo Cadava who will deliver the keynote lecture and workshop. We will also enjoy panels with presentations from graduate students in our own department/university and from other institutions across the country and beyond, including Cornell University, Dalhousie University, Emory University, McGill University, New York University, Northwestern University Rishihood University, University of British Columbia, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, University of Cincinnati, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Iowa, University of Michigan, University of Oregon, University of Princeton, University of Utah, University of West Ontario, University of Southern California, University of Virginia, Villanova University, Western University, and York University.The conference will take place on the 17-18th October 2023 at the Michigan League, University of Michigan–Ann Arbor and features Dr. Anna Kornbluh from the University of Illinois Chicago's Workshop "Psychic Life in Too Late Capitalism" on Friday, October 17th 11am-12:30 am (Henderson Room) and Keynote Lecture "Good Enough Art: Missing Middle Mediations" on Saturday, October 18th 11:30am-1:00 pm (Vandenberg Room).
Registration is required for the Workshop Session on Friday 17th.
