A2 Data Dive: Campaign Finance Transparency in Michigan
Register for the annual A2 Data Dive, hosted by the University of Michigan School of Information (UMSI)! This one-day event invites students, data enthusiasts, and community members to work side-by-side and analyze real-world data for meaningful impact, no matter your experience level. This year, in partnership with the Michigan Department of State, participants will dive into campaign finance disclosure data to uncover important trends and insights in Michigan politics.

Why Campaign Finance Data?
Who funds politics, and why does it matter? Campaign finance data tracks who gives money to candidates, how that money is spent, and how it can potentially influence election outcomes. But often, that data can be difficult to access or understand. At this event, participants will dive into real campaign finance disclosure data, explore the patterns of money and influence in Michigan elections, and develop solutions that make this information more transparent and usable. By turning complex data into insight, participants will walk away more informed and help communities be empowered through data access, data transparency, and a stronger democracy, all while putting their skills to work for the public good.
