Presented By: School of Kinesiology
Know Your Play with Bobby Scales
Event summary:
The University of Michigan Sport Business Association (SBA) is hosting EPIC Global Solutions and the Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) for an event promoting Know Your Play, an educational program aimed to equip college-aged students with the tools and knowledge they need to help them make informed decisions around issues of responsible gaming, financial literacy, and mental health.
Why Know Your Play is important:
College can be a difficult period to navigate for many students. Know Your Play was created to provide young adults with practical knowledge to help foster a well-rounded understanding of decision-making, risk-taking, and financial management, which can help them to set limits across a variety of activities. It helps set the foundation for those who participate in gaming to do so in a responsible manner by viewing gaming as budgeted entertainment rather than a way of making money.
Featured speaker:
Bobby Scales, U-M School of Kinesiology alum and the event's featured speaker, has an extensive background in US sports, having played with several organizations in the minor leagues before spending two seasons in the Major Leagues with the Chicago Cubs. Additionally, he finished his career with two seasons in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball. Since his professional playing career, he has worked in a variety of player development, education, and media roles.
