March 4 - 6, 2026
New York, New York
Are you curious about what it’s like to work behind the scenes of your favorite shows, sports, or streaming platforms? Join the LSA Opportunity Hub for a Career Trek to New York City and experience the heart of the media and entertainment world firsthand.
Over three exciting days, you’ll visit leading companies like Disney, Madison Square Garden, and The Montag Group (with more to come!) connecting directly with industry professionals and University of Michigan alums who are shaping the future of media. You’ll gain insider insights into a wide range of roles, from production and storytelling to marketing, business operations, and talent representation.
This fully funded experience includes round-trip flights, hotel accommodations, and most meals so you can focus on learning, connecting, and imagining your future career.
Along the way, you’ll:
Build your professional network with U-M alumni and company insiders
Explore different career paths within media and entertainment
Learn what skills and experiences make candidates stand out in these dynamic fields
Reflect on how your liberal arts education can open doors in creative industries
Application details:
Students must complete a short online application, submit a resume and unofficial transcript (to confirm good academic standing), and record a 1–2 minute video essay. Applications will be reviewed as they come in, so early submissions are encouraged. Spots are limited!
Students selected for the Trek will also attend a mandatory orientation on February 18 or 19 to prepare for the experience.
All LSA undergraduates are welcome to apply whether you’re just beginning to explore career options or already passionate about media and entertainment, this Trek is designed to meet you where you are in your journey.
Don’t miss this chance to see your liberal arts degree in action and to discover what’s possible for you in one of the most exciting industries in the world.
