It's More Than and First Amendment
Don Herzog Professor University of Michigan Law School and Department of Political Science
Dr. Herzog will discuss the importance of the First Amendment and share examples of free speech issues that aren’t covered by the First Amendment at all. He’ll also offer insights gained from teaching U-M students about the fundamental freedoms of religion, speech, assembly and petition guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution. Herzog joined U-M’s Political Science Department in 1983 and holds a joint appointment with that department and the Law School. In 2011, the U-M student body selected Herzog to receive its coveted Golden Apple, the only university-wide teaching award determined by students. He is the first law professor to receive a Golden Apple award in the award’s more than 20-year history.
