Physics class ($40) meets Thursdays, Sept 19-Dec 12. No class Nov 28. Brookhaven Manor, 401 W. Oakbrook Dr.
The class will cover the ideas of modern physics (relativity & quantum mechanics) from a non-specialist point of view. We will view two 30-minute DVD lectures, each followed by 20 minutes for answering questions and discussion. Dick Chase worked 27 years as an industrial physicist for Ford and has taught physicsl.
National Issues class ($40) meets First & Third Thursdays, 9/19/13 - 1/9/14 (2nd Thursday) at University Commons, 817 Asa Gray Dr.
This discussion group focuses on public issues affecting our everyday lives. Participants volunteer to facilitate discussions. Topics: future of US education; critical thinking and the news media; taxing, spending and our fiscal future; wealth, income, and inequality of opportunity; US energy challenges, choices, and consequences; health care reform--will it work; end-of-life issues. Facilitated by Stu Simon and Leo Shedden.
