Intermediate and Advanced German, and Anti-Semitism:The Migration of the Cross to the Swastika

The emphasis will be on speaking/conversation and reading. The textbook is "Themen aktuell, Kurcbuch 2" (ISBN #978-3-19-001691-4) and its workbook. The accompanying disks (ISBN #978-3-19=12691-7) are highly recommended. The reading is the Bertold Brecht play "Die Dreigroschenoper", an annotated edition. Renate Gerulaitis is professor emeritus of German Language and Literature at Oakland University.
Anti-Semitism class ($35) meets Tuesdays, Sept 24-Oct 8 at First Presbyterian Church, 1432 Washtenaw.
We will discuss how the seeds of hate, initially sown by the Church after the crucifixion of Jesus, blossomed into extreme anti-Jewish violence throughout the ages and led to the murder of six million Jews by the Nazis during the Holocaust. Taught by Sid Lawrence.
