Chinese Culture and History, and Nuclear Physics in the News

Chinese class ($35) meets Mondays, 10 am-12:00 noon, Oct 7-Nov 11 at TSRC, 2401 Plymouth Rd.
This class will provide an introduction to Chinese history, philosophy, and culture. It will cover education, communication, governing, health beliefs, sports, migration, wars and their impacts, American influence and the Taiwan issue. Amy Seetoo is dedicated to promoting cultural exchange in Michigan.
Physics class ($35) meets Mondays, 10:00-11:30 am Oct 7-Nov 4 at Grace Bible Church, 1300 S. Maple Rd.
Five sessions combine illustrated presentations on basic concepts of nuclear and atomic physics with online searches for news articles that relate to those concepts. Topics include radiocarbon dating, diagnostic & therapeutic use of radiation, nuclear power, & nuclear weapons. Half discussion of news articles brought in by participants and half presentations on concepts. Facilitated by John Preston.
