EEB Tuesday Seminar/ Prelim Seminar- Symbionts and Syndromes: How Has Anthropogenic Activity Influenced Bat Symbionts?
Aleana Savage, EEB PhD Student (Co-advised by Dr. Meg Duffy and Dr. Kelly Speer)
Description: This talk is part of my proposal defense for my dissertation, which will investigate how anthropogenic land use alters ecological and evolutionary processes of host-symbiont relationships. I test the hypothesis that agricultural intensification and urbanization impact bat-symbiont dynamics through three mechanisms: contaminant exposure, altered species interactions, and changes in population connectivity.
