Transforming Government Services with Human Centered Design
John Buckley and Pallavi Rawla
This day-long workshop on Saturday, March 28, from 10am-3:30pm, lead by John Buckley and Pallavi Rawla of the Public Policy Lab Midwest, will provide U-M students, faculty, and staff, with a comprehensive introduction to applying human-centered innovation approaches in the public sector. Over the past decade, governments have placed increasing emphasis on design to transform how services and information are delivered to the public. Furthering these efforts is an inherently interdisciplinary pursuit – requiring an appreciation of the design process from those across a variety of careers. PPL’s workshop will allow U-M students – future policy makers, technologists, data analysts, engineers, civil servants, and social workers – to not only understand this framework, but also gain invaluable experience bridging academic silos.
Because students in the workshop will both learn and engage in design work together the organizers of this event are requiring applications so that we can select a group of participants who will bring diverse perspectives and experiences.
Fill out the application form by Monday, March 23 at 12pm.
