HEP-Astro Seminar | Putting the LAr in stellar: Staring at the sun and stars with deep-underground liquid argon detectors
Shawn Westerdale (University of California, Riverside)
The Global Argon Dark Matter Collaboration (GADMC) is the union of the ArDM, DarkSide, DEAP, and MiniCLEAN dark matter direct detection experiments, aiming to fully explore the experimentally accessible dark matter parameter space down to the neutrino fog. This talk will discuss the status, latest results, and future prospects of the DEAP and DarkSide experiments, digging in to how we can use argon-based dark matter detectors to observe the sun and supernovae under a nu light -- using neutrinos. We will also discuss new tools and technologies, including the future DarkSide-LowMass detector and associated R&D, that may open new windows to these signals.
