Body Camera Footage as Data

Over the last decade, police departments across the country have adopted body-worn cameras at a dizzying pace. While we typically think of these recordings as evidence to prove or disprove police misconduct, they also provide a source of data for the thousands of interactions law enforcement have with the public each day. In this talk, I’ll share what this footage can tell us as data: insights into the everyday realities of policing, and tools for more accountable and just law enforcement.
