A special screening of 'Picture a Scientist'
This 90 min film was directed by a UM alum. It documents, with both personal narratives and statistics, the effects of systemic gender/racial biases, workplace harassment, and targeted discrimination in STEM fields. This film highlights the bold and inspiring scientific leaders across different career stages who are working to change and to improve STEM workplaces. The intent of this screening is to give UM members (faculty, students, postdocs, staff) a chance to connect outside of the lab and share a common reference point in efforts to keep improving our work environments.
Content Warning: Some scenes from the movie feature firsthand stories of harassment, implicit gender and racial bias, and entrenched institutional discrimination.
