Led by artist and founder of Detroit’s MBAD African Bead Museum Olayami Dabls, participants will learn about African history and Dabls’s creative practice through the beads from his museum. Dabls believes in the power of symbols and visual materials to preserve history from African and African-American perspectives. As part of this engagement, participants will have the opportunity to string their own selection of beads as a take away.

Presented in conjunction with Olayami Dabls' exhibition Grand Vision, at the Institute for the Humanities Gallery Sept. 22 - Oct. 28.
