Presented By: Institute for the Humanities
Great Michigan Gathering Watch Party
Livestream event featuring The Art of Gathering author Priya Parker
Join the Institute for the Humanities as we tune in to The Great Michigan Gathering Watch Party, a statewide event hosted by the Michigan Humanities Council from the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn.
The watch party marks the launch of The Great Michigan Gathering, a new three-year initiative designed to strengthen connections, spark meaningful conversations, and build community across Michigan. Developed after more than a year of listening to communities and stakeholders throughout the state, the initiative responds to a clear message from Michiganders: people are looking for more opportunities to come together, engage across differences, and create a stronger sense of belonging.
To kick off the initiative, bestselling author, facilitator, educator, and strategic advisor Priya Parker will share insights from her acclaimed book, The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters. Parker's work explores how intentional gatherings—from meetings and classrooms to community events and celebrations—can foster deeper relationships and more meaningful dialogue.
Whether you're interested in community building, leadership, event planning, or simply curious about how we can create stronger connections in our daily lives, this watch party offers fresh ideas and practical inspiration. Join us as we watch the live event together and take part in a statewide conversation about the power of gathering with purpose.
