This webinar provides a practical overview of emergency planning strategies that support the safety, accessibility, and autonomy of people with disabilities across University of Michigan workplaces. Participants will explore key considerations for preparing before, during, and after a range of emergency situations, with an emphasis on strengthening coordinated response and reducing barriers when emergencies occur.

The session will address legal and institutional responsibilities, common accessibility challenges in emergency contexts, and practical steps departments and employees can take to improve preparedness. Topics will include needs assessments, individualized emergency evacuation plans, training, and inclusive emergency drills.

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of their role in advancing proactive, disability-inclusive emergency preparedness and helping create safer, more accessible workplace environments across the university.

American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services and Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) captioning services will be provided. If you need additional accommodations to participate in this webinar, please email the ADA Coordinator at [email protected].
