Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at U-M
Speaker: Ira Konigsberg, Ph.d. Professor Emeritus of Film and English, U-M
Professor Konigsberg will discuss those moments in cinema when it becomes possible to encounter tragic human dilemmas through the humor and fantasy of political satire. These moments of mirth and madness allow insights into the nature of the comic while opening up vaster issues concerning human nature and human existence. He will draw his comments from such films as “The Producers”, “Dr. Strangelove”, “Mash”, and “Wag the Dog.”
