The Mediterranean Topographies (“Meditopos”) Rackham Interdisciplinary Workshop brings together diverse graduate students and faculty to explore common interests and develop skills for researching and teaching about Mediterranean lifeworlds. Through reading discussions, graduate student writing workshops, Zoom discussions with artists and activists, a guest lecture, and a pedagogy and syllabus workshop, we will explore ‘the Mediterranean’ as an analytical and methodological framework for scholarly inquiry across empirical contexts and disciplinary backgrounds: How can an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach enrich our understanding of Mediterranean civilizations and cultures and their interconnections? How can this particular world region generate insights with more global implications?
