BRCF Advanced Genomics Core Holiday Open House
Celebrate the season with the BRCF research community at this year’s Advanced Genomics Core (AGC) Holiday Open House!
Join us for refreshments, core tours, and a new Meet the Experts format that puts you in direct conversation with scientists who can help move your research forward.
AGC staff and visiting scientific specialists will host informal expert tables. Choose the tables most relevant to your work and engage in focused, substantive discussions about experimental design, sample preparation, data analysis, and project-specific troubleshooting. Bring a project idea, a technical challenge, or a question about what’s possible—no prepared proposal needed.
Discussion topics will include:
• Single cell research: Technology selection, sample preparation, data quality, and scaling studies.
• Spatial biology: Project planning, tissue considerations, and investigating the tumor microenvironment.
• Sequencing: Long-read applications, transcript diversity, targeted sequencing, and methylation.
• Epigenomics, proteomics, and research workflows: Sample handling, study design, quality control, and moving from samples to insights.
Participating Vendors:
• 10x Genomics
• Bruker Spatial Biology
• Element Biosciences
• Illumina
• Olink
• PacBio
• Parse Biosciences
• QIAGEN
• Singular Genomics
• Takara Bio
• Ultima Genomics
• Waters (formerly BD Biosciences)
• With more to be announced!
Whether you’re planning your first experiment or expanding an ongoing study, connect with experts and colleagues in a relaxed, festive setting. Enjoy cocoa and cookies, explore the expert tables, and take a behind-the-scenes tour of the core.
Find Your Conversation
• How it works: Visit one table or several; conversations are informal and may be shared with other attendees. Areas include: single cell, spatial biology, sequencing, sample preparation, and beyond DNA & RNA.
• Help choosing: AGC staff can help attendees find an expert or think through platform options.
• Core tours: Departing at 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm, join AGC leadership to walk through the core and see our newest acquisitions, including the recently installed 10x Genomics Atera!
Presented by the Advanced Genomics Core, one of the Biomedical Research Core Facilities, and part of the Medical School Office of Research. Our mission is to foster an environment of innovation and efficiency that serves the Michigan Medicine research community and supports biomedical science from insight to impact.
