A Mentors Summit: A Mentors Summit: Paving the Path to College
At the University of Michigan, education isn’t just a four-year program; it’s a life-long journey. On Saturday, November 23 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., the U-M Detroit Center continues that journey with the workshop, A Mentors Summit: Paving the Path to College.
Aimed at adults that work or volunteer with young people, this workshop is also open to young people with an interest in pursuing a higher education. Workshop presenters will include University Admissions and Financial Aid Professionals in addition to Higher Education Experts.
“Participants in this program will be able to better guide and mentor young people because they will have a greater knowledge and understanding of the college process,” says Feodies Shipp, Associate Director of the University of Michigan Detroit Center. “College is an investment you make for your future. The amount of time you spend preparing for college can lead to great benefits. These benefits can lead to greater satisfaction in your career and higher earnings than if you only completed high school.”
