The Statistics Online Computational Resource:
Part 1: Scope, Projects and Organization
The University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN) recently welcomed the Statistics Online Computational Resource (SOCR) to Michigan. SOCR designs, validates, and freely disseminates knowledge. It provides portable online aids for probability and statistics education, technology-based instruction, and statistical computing, and well as materials for teaching scientific methods. SOCR tools and resources include a repository of interactive applets, computational web apps and graphing tools, instructional and course materials. SOCR started in 2002 at UCLA and was then funded by NSF, NIH, and the state of California. In 2013, SOCR Director Ivo Dinov, Ph.D., became an Associate Professor at UMSN, and SOCR moved from Los Angeles to Ann Arbor.

The Statistics Online Computational Resource: Part 2: Exploratory Data Analyses will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18, 12-1p.m, Room 1330.
