“Thicket: An Exhibition by Lily Cox-Richard”
“Thicket: An Exhibition by Lily Cox-Richard” is presented from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays through Jan. 10 at the Institute for the Humanities Gallery, 202 S. Thayer. Thicket is part of the larger project The Stand (Possessing Powers), which grapples with sculptural traditions as they relate to American history, gender and form. Each carved plaster sculpture in this series takes on a marble figure by Hiram Powers (1805–73), once considered the father of American sculpture. Cox-Richard is an artist and postdoctoral fellow in the Michigan Society of Fellows.
