Patrick Sharkey's research specializes in neighborhoods and communities, stratification and mobility, urban sociology, crime and violence, and social policy.
Dr. Sharkey earned his B.A. from Brown University and his Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Policy at Harvard University. He was a postdoctoral scholar in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health & Society program from 2007-2009, at Columbia University. He is currently associate professor of Sociology at New York University.
