The Blind Boys of Alabama are an American institution, with a 60-year career that had its beginnings early in the era of modern African-American gospel music. Their sinewy harmonies and fiery vocal effects are instantly identifiable, and the sheer spiritual power of their music brings audiences to their feet and touches the soul. And when they really get down to the business of taking the audience to church, well, hold on to your hats. The Blind Boys have a new album, "I'll Find a Way," featuring such classics-to-be as "There Will Never Been Any Peace (Till God Is Seated at the Conference Table)." The album is a bit more hardcore than the Blind Boys' other recent outings, drawing on the classic Sam Cooke/Soul Stirrers gospel style. Everybody should experience the Blind Boys once, but they're no relic: since 2000, they’ve won five Grammys and four Gospel Music Awards.
