2014 Saline Fiddlers Hometown Show
Featuring Matt Glaser & Friends
This evening promises to be an entertaining, high energy show of fiddling, singing and dancing. The Saline Fiddlers is America’s premier youth fiddling show band - a group of high school music students who entertain with a unique blend of traditional folk tunes that can include Celtic, bluegrass, pop, mountain music, swing and jazz.
The Fiddlers are honored to be joined this evening by Matt Glaser & his friends Jon Wheatley and Britanny Karlson. Matt is an American jazz and bluegrass violinist. He has served as the chair of the string department at the Berklee College of Music and is the founder and artistic director of Berklee's American Roots Music Program. He has performed with Yo-Yo Ma, Bob Dylan, Mark O’Connor, and Jay Ungar and is featured on the soundtrack for Ken Burns’ 1990 The Civil War documentary. Jon, composer, arranger, performer, is also a professor of guitar at Berklee. He is featured on more than 30 recordings and has performed at jazz festivals around the world. His improvising and vast collection of guitar solos incorporate both pick and fingerstyle.
Britanny will be joining Matt and Jon on bass. She is a student at Berklee on a full scholarship and is heavily involved in the American Roots Music Program. She has performed, toured and has a deep connection to her instrument and an insatiable curiosity for the sounds around her.
