Mix the Hot Club of Paris with the sweaty soul of Dixieland, a couple blades of bluegrass, and a pinch of ragtime swinging swagger and you've just conjured the sound of The Appleseed Collective. Formed in late 2010, the Ann Arbor outfit has been traveling the country, spreading melodies, harmonies, and foot-stomping beats everywhere they go. Featuring resonator guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, upright bass, and washboard, each show is a little different--you never know if you might be transported to a 1930s jazz club or the distant realm of bluegrass psychedelia. The Appleseed Collective can currently be found traversing the country in a big ol’ van, celebrating the release of their new album, Young Love. The Appleseed Collective has been getting attention from as far away as the UK, and their 2014 Ann Arbor Folk Festival appearance as well as their showcase at the International Folk Alliance Conference in February just put them on the musical radar of a whole lot of people.
