The Intersectional Nature of Disability
Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) 40th Anniversary Event
Lloyd Shelton is a graduate student at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. He is presently pursuing a Master’s degree with a focus on Interpersonal Practice.
Lloyd’s academic interests focus on issues related to identity and society, with a particular focus on race, culture, and disability. Lloyd’s interests in these areas stem from his experiences as an African American man living with a disability.
When not working towards his academic endeavors Lloyd participates in local government as a mayoral appointed city commissioner of the Ann Arbor Commission on Disability Concerns. Recently he began SDAG, the Students with Disability and our Allies Group, a support group for students with disabilities and allies from across the University of Michigan’s campus. He presently serves as a Student Representative in the School of Social Work’s Student Union. He is a proud member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Lloyd also serves as the Political Activist Chair for SCOR, Students of Color of Rackham as well as a member of the executive board of WBWC, Washtenaw Bicycling Walking Coalition.
This presentation is part of a series of talks being held to honor the Services for Students with Disabilities 40th Anniversary.
