Suzy Bogguss is one of the most intelligent and versatile artists in country music. She's recorded numerous chart-topping hits and fronted a great swing band. Every Suzy Bogguss concert offers something new. At The Ark, we've heard her with a full band, with a virtuoso guitar accompaniment from Verlon Thompson, and with jazz and Americana groups. She also routinely performs with symphony orchestras, and lately she's done some shows with just her own guitar. On top of all that, she's a gifted interpreter of traditional country and cowgirl material who regularly showcases her skills on Garrison Keillor's live "A Prairie Home Companion" broadcast. Suzy's latest project adds yet another facet to her repertoire: her new album, "Lucky," revisits the classic country songs of Merle Haggard. Ever since the agonizing version of "Somewhere Between" on her very first album, Suzy has had a way with the songs of the mighty Merle. Chet Atkins said that Suzy's voice "sparkles like crystal," and we think you'll find her new music has special warmth and depth.
