A Stroll Through History – A Personal Tour Of The Michigan Firehouse Museum
OLLI at U-M (50+)
Remember the excitement of seeing a fire engine when you were young? Enjoy a personal tour of firehouse history at the Michigan Firehouse Museum located near Depot Town in Ypsilanti. In addition to showing what life in a firehouse circa 1900 was like, the museum also houses an extensive collection of hand, horse, and engine fire apparatus as well as other firehouse memorabilia. Matt Lee, curator and author of seven books on firefighting will lead us through the museum, sharing his extensive knowledge and stories of firefighting. Take a peek at the museum at www.michiganfirehousemuseum.org.
Matt Lee is a known expert in the field and has written for the History Channel and Automobile Quarterly as well as made appearances as a subject matter expert on firefighting history on television many times. A former school teacher, he can bring a touch of humor to history topics.
Bring a camera. There is also a gift shop. There is plenty of parking on street and a church parking lot only steps away.
