Now 21 years strong, cellochan is a unique program in Ann Arbor for young cellists that provides an especially supportive and enjoyable environment for study while pursuing excellence, personal fulfillment and artistic growth. The "Ch'an" in cellochan means Zen, or search for insight. Director Suzanne Smith, who has been teaching and performing cello for over 30 years and studying Zen for over 20, draws upon her life experiences to create a joyful, self-supporting and service oriented program. Cellochan students and Smith will perform pieces in this recital.
