CBSSM Seminar: "Talking to Patients about HPV in Head and Neck Cancer" with Andrew Shuman, MD (March 27)
Talking to Patients about HPV in Head and Neck Cancer
Andrew Shuman, MD, Assistant Professor, Department of Otolaryngology
Abstract: Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted infection, is an emerging causative factor for squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. Little is known about the experience of patients receiving this diagnosis. This presentation will address the ethical and practical issues involved with educating patients with head and neck cancer about HPV. Such discussions require recognizing the dilemma posed by unresolved clinical questions, patients' desire for accurate and accessible information, treatment implications, and the potential stigma and psychological consequences of the information.
Join us from 3:00-4:00 PM in NCRC Bldg 16, RM B003E (basement)
