Class meets Wednesdays, April 16 - May 21
We will read and discuss the title book (3rd edition) by Robert M. Sapolsky. It's been said, "Sapolsky is to stress, science, neuroendocrinology and primatology what Springsteen is to rock-n-roll." The book explains how prolonged stress causes or intensifies a range of physical and mental afflictions, including depression, ulcers, colitis and heart disease. The author presents a detailed understanding of how stress affects our bodies as well as our psyches and he provides guidance for controlling our stress. Please read the Preface and Chapter 1 in advance of the first class and come prepared to share your favorite quotes. Instructor: Mike Murray.
