The members of Vishtèn come from two sister islands in Canada's Maritime region, Prince Edward Island and the Magdalen Islands. They grew up in communities with rich traditional musical cultures dating back two and half centuries, where the songs of the first French settlers blended with Scots and Irish fiddle styles. The group makes its mark everywhere they play, with their musicianship, communicative energy, and innovative approach to the distinctive music of their home region. All of Vishtèn's youthful members are multi-instrumentalists, arrangers and composers, and their energetic rhythms (you have never heard the feet used as percussion in quite this way) have brought them very excited audiences all over Canada and in the U.S., France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, and Switzerland.
