Presented By: Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy
Honoring Ned Gramlich and the Importance of Policy Research
Portions of this event will be live streamed. Please check http://www.fordschool.umich.edu/events/calendar/1758/ on the day of the event for details.
By invitation only.
Edward M. (Ned) Gramlich was among the most productive policy economists of his day –a day stretching from the mid-1960s until his death in 2007. In addition to producing academic (often practical) work relevant to dozens of policy issues, he was an accomplished administrator and leader.
The 100th anniversary of the founding of the Ford School, at a time when the quality of discourse around public policy often leaves a great deal to be desired, presents an opportunity to celebrate and demonstrate the value of rigorous policy analysis, and to do so by focusing on several of the areas in which Ned Gramlich made substantial contributions. This conference will bring together a dozen or so leading practitioners of public policy analysis to illuminate a set of current issues in the spirit of Ned's guiding principle that good analysis is essential to making and implementing good policy.
